Pump House, Castleford

Overview

Working closely with a sprinkler system installation company we were asked to design a building that was to sit between 2 large water tanks at a large distribution centre for a major online retail company.

The building had to achieve 1 hr fire protection so that the pumps were protected should a large fire take hold in the main building.

The programme was critical as the sprinkler system had to be installed and commissioned prior to the building handover to the client. We had to work within very strict installation dates so co-operation between all parties was crucial to ensure that the installation was finished on time.

Due to the number of pipe/vent/flue penetrations, we worked closely with the engineers to form the necessary openings in the walls as the pump installation progressed. All holes were then flashed and sealed internally and externally to give a neat, water tight finish.
